St. James Hotel

I stayed on 3rd floor. First night woke up to a wrinkling of plastic. Laying awake at 3 am, I became very cold. Got up and checked tge the heat/air, it was 68 * so tge deep cold in my bones from something else? Then I heard ice machine go off. I thought who is getting ice at 340 am. Looked out my peep hole which I could see the ice machine, no one was there! Next morning getting ready for the day, and we were leaving, was in the bathroom getting ready, put my makeup, face cream, etc back in my make up bag. I have an oil from India I use as perfume, I set that aside to pack last in my makeup bag in case it would leak. I set it 5, 6 inches from sink bowl, walked out, shut light out, and I heard a crash. Something knocked my perfume bottle in the sink. That was freaky! But also excited I got to experience some crazy stuff. The place is definitely haunted. Not in a creepy way, but there is definitely paranormal activity.

My friend and I stayed one night in room 205. It was interesting because we experienced more paranormal activity during the day versus at night. Long story, short- the hotel is most definitely haunted. Short version: we had issues with the plumbing, heard numerous noises and most of the pictures we took of the place had orbs in them.

Long Story: We got there around 6pm and walked around to look at the history around the place. We took multiple pictures and we didn’t notice till the day after, but there were MULTIPLE orbs in pictures that we took- especially the pictures we took on the third floor which is apparently the most haunted. We also took a picture where one of us was walking in the front and there was an orb on us (very creepy. We ended up going back into our room around 6:45 and we started getting ready for the night because we were going to go out to eat. As we were getting ready, we were using the sink and the sink randomly turned off as we were using it. I thought the plumbing was maybe not working since it was an old building, but we tried the sink again and it worked fine. Then we started heating knocking on the walls- my friend knocked on the wall and there was a knock back. After about 15-20 minutes of weird thumps and knocking, the toilet flushed by itself and it freaked us out super bad. At that point we were like, we need a break from the room, and then we were getting ready to leave and then the curtains in our bathroom started going back and forth aggressively- we ran out and went to the bar lol! but anyways, we heard consistent thumping and weird ticking throughout the night. The next morning, before we checked out, we used the sink again and then the same thing happened with the water starting not to work. Basically, very haunted and we weren’t even on the third floor which is apparently the most haunted.

Bonus story: when we went to the bar, we talked to the bartender and told him what happened and he said that he had a friend stay in town and when he did, he said that his friend got super scared because while he was facetiming his gf, she said that she saw someone in the back of the facetime and asked if he was staying with anyone else. She said she saw a guy in a flannel behind her bf. Apparently there was a guy who fell of the side of the building and died, so it might’ve been him.

Just today on accident I have photographic proof of spirit that appeared in my image at the St. James. I would love to share it on this website if there’s way to do that. I was in the library and felt cold air as I passed in front of the fireplace full lit, When I took an image of the library included the portrait of a woman I would guess it is Clare the past owner of the hotel. Up in the dark corner of the ceiling appears a woman in a white dress just like the woman in the portrait. It’s one of the best photographic images providing there is really spirit activity that I’ve seen. Hope I can find a way to share it so others can see what they think. We’ve stayed her many times and you can feel the paranormal activity so strongly. We’ve found the front desk has been told to tell people that nothing strange is going on but other honest employees have mentioned that many have witnessed things, Especially the cleaning staff I guess sees pretty convincing things and it seems that not many like to do the night duty.

We have stayed at the St. James three times this year and have not experienced any abnormal things happening.

My husband and I stayed for two nights this August of 2022. The room was spotless, and very cozy. We had no haunted events happen and I never sensed any sadness or spirits there. Food in the Scarlett restaurant was wonderful! We will stay there again!

August 2022

Me and some family members were staying at treasure island for the weekend, and since I was into haunted places, and thankfully, they agreed. Once we got there, we researched a bit, and then went upstairs. We took a lot of pictures, and then when we looked over them, we ended up finding 1 shadow figure, and a boy wearing a blue jacket, and orange hat and gloves. Now it was March of 2022 and it was cold, so I did have a blue jacket on, but I had no jacket nor gloves on..... and the shadow figure, it was on the other side of a window, and there was no one else there....

August 2022

I walked into the hotel and immediately felt the energy. The air was thick. It felt sad. I knew there were spirits there. I was anxious the entire time. I woke up around 3 in the morning. I looked out the window in front of the bed. I began to see dark lines forming down from each side of the window. Like long dark hair. I said "what is that?" My eyes were not playing tricks on me. Not sure if I wanna go back. Definitely some negative energy there.

Quite a few years ago my sister and I went to this hotel for a wedding. I remember walking in from the back garage and I could feel the energy. As we were walking threw the halls looking at the decor I was telling my sister how I was convinced and dead set that the hotel was haunted and she just told me to "calm down, its not haunted". Well we get to the front desk and we see some flyers and I asked about it and the lovely woman checking us in was basically like "oh yeah this place is haunted" and with a quick whip of my head I turned to my sister and did the classic "I told you so" anyways fast forward, it was one in the morning and I couldn't sleep because at the time I was a night person and I went to go down stairs to have a smoke. I remember very clearly as I walked down the stairs I saw a woman in a dress walking up the stairs and I thought that was odd at this time of night but then as we passed it hit me of who she could of been and we both stopped and just looked at each other, I then quickly decided to keep moving cus I wasn't sure how that interaction would affect me but the look on her face of pure confusion is still very vivid in my mind. 10/10 though and I definitely plan on going back, can't wait.
